Beacon Bingo sponsors world record sumo wrestler

Beacon Bingo in Cricklewood is sponsoring one of its regular customers who is not only a sumo wrestler, but also a Guinness world record holder.

Sharran Alexander, 52, holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s heaviest sportswoman, and has a trophy cabinet fit to bursting with gold, silver and bronze medals that she’s won since beginning competing in Sumo in 2006.

She competed all across the world, including Hong Kong, the USA, India, China, Switzerland, Estonia, Holland and Germany, and her latest trip – the first to be sponsored by Beacon Bingo – took place in Italy at the Milano Sumo Open on June 3rd. Sharran won a bronze medal in the heavyweight category.

Sharran Alexander said: “I love going to Beacon Bingo in Cricklewood and have been a customer since it first opened in 1996, so knowing they are behind me and for them to sponsor means a lot. I hope I do them proud.”

Craig White, deputy manager for Beacon Bingo in Cricklewood said: “Sharran is a longtime and loyal customer, so when we first heard about the tournament we really wanted to get involved and support her as much as we could. We look forward to following Sharran’s progress and cheering her on!”
