Hordley, who first appeared in the soap in 2000, agreed to take time out of his busy filming schedule to pop in and meet his fans, as well say thanks to the hard-work both Beacon staff and customers have put into helping raise over £500,000 for the casino and gaming industry charity, CHIPS since 2005.
The CHIPS charity provides specialised wheelchairs for children and young people with severe mobility problems in the UK, and Beacon Bingo, along with sister company, Cashino has now supplied more than 500 such chairs.
Commenting on the visit, Jeff Hordley said: “Saturday night was great and I believe organisations which dedicate time to raising money for such deserving charities, such as CHIPS, should certainly receive recognition for their efforts. I hope my visit has helped to raise awareness of this fantastic accomplishment by staff and customers at Beacon Bingo.”
David Vernon, Assistant Manager of Beacon Bingo in Ilkeston, said: “It was great to have Jeff Hordley visit and personally thank our staff and customers for all their fundraising efforts.”
“The event was a huge success and we were delighted to see both regular and new customers having such a good time. All of which clearly shows if you want the most exciting Bingo experience in Ilkeston, Beacon Bingo is the place to come!”
