Five-A-Side Tournament Raises £18,000 for Charity

A five-a-side football tournament organised by Milton Keynes-based Cashino Gaming and Beacon Bingo has raised £18,000 for CHIPS – a charity founded by the casino and gaming industry which provides specialised powered wheelchairs for young people with severe mobility problems.

The event for staff and suppliers, took place last week [Saturday 21st June] at Powerleague in Fyfield Barrow, Milton Keynes.

Phil Gibbs, marketing manager for Cashino and Beacon Bingo said:

“I cannot believe it, last year we raised £15,000 for this event and this year we have again exceeded our target!
“The fundraiser was enjoyed by all and everyone contributed generously to the cause which does so much for disadvantaged children. Gaming machine manufacturer, Reflex Gaming even pledged £1,000 if the senior management did the popular Gangnam Style dance! It is great to see such big contributions like this as well as the dedication of the team here at Cashino and Beacon Bingo.”

BSG Merkur Gauselmann, a team representing Cashino and Beacon Bingo’s umbrella company Gauselmann, took home the glory after beating twenty three teams from up and down the country. A separate competition was also held for the girls and it was a team from Cashino in Runcorn that saw out strong competition from seven teams to win their tournament.
Cashino and Beacon Bingo have raised over £250,000 and presented over 80 custom built wheelchairs to children up and down the country since they began working with the charity in 2005.
Co-founder of CHIPS charity, Linda Lindsay added:

“This event was an amazing success and we cannot thank everyone who was involved enough. It’s thanks to these fundraising events that we are able to help so many young people and change their lives. It is such a fantastic total which is truly appreciated by all of us here at CHIPS and the wheelchair recipients themselves.”
