Praesepe Breaks Half a Million Fundraising Barrier for Disabled Children in UK

Praesepe, a gaming and entertainment company based in Knowlhill, Milton Keynes, is celebrating raising £500,000 for CHIPS, a charity set up on behalf of the gaming industry, which aims to provide specialised wheelchairs for children and young people with severe mobility problems.

Praesepe, which operates over 145 Cashino adult gaming centres and 8 Beacon Bingo clubs, has been organising  fundraising events for CHIPS since 2009  and raising over half a million has allowed the company to reach a milestone of providing 100 powered wheelchairs to disabled children up and down the country.

Praesepe CEO Nick Harding said: “This is a great milestone achievement and it really is thanks to the generosity and brilliant joint fundraising efforts of our customers and staff across the country that we have reached this significant target.”

Nick contained: “The chairs really do make a difference to the children that receive them and to know we have given 100 children in the UK a better quality life makes all the hard work worthwhile. There are, however, many more children who need our help which is why we will continue with our fundraising campaign head on.”

Each powered wheelchair for a child can cost as much as £6,500 and will be custom-made for each youngster according to their needs – even the colour can be at their request.

Each child receives their chair at a special ceremony organised by either their local Cashino or Beacon Bingo.

Co-founder of the CHIPS charity Linda Lindsay said: “It is so important for CHIPS that our donors see the results of their hard work and we try to ensure that all the recipients are local to where the funds have been raised. Praesepe, Cashino and Beacon Bingo have been amazing and to have raised over £500,000, funding 100 powered wheelchairs for children up and down the country, is a fantastic milestone to achieve.”

In total CHIPS has raised over £1,500,000 to date and presented over 400 wheelchairs to children throughout the UK.
