Joe joined the Praesepe team in January 2019 as a Business Development Manager following an extensive career in managerial roles across the food retail industry. Wasting no time in his new role at Praesepe, Joe launched a new office standards guide which has been actioned in every Merkur Cashino venue across the country.
The guide is a ‘back to basic’s toolkit to help venues streamline office setup such as managing old paperwork and creating more efficient working spaces, whilst bring uniformity across the country, meaning staff can transfer to another Merkur Cashino venue and adapt quickly to new surroundings.
Joe has over 20 years’ experience in the food retail sector, including Asda where he worked in several managerial roles across a variety of stores in the South of the UK, including as a store manager role for one of Asda Living’s High Street department stores. After Asda, Joe joined Lidl as an area manager and stayed in the role for two and a half years.
When the opportunity for a change of scenery arose, Joe jumped at the chance to join the gaming industry with a role at Praesepe. A talented manager, Joe uses his past experience to help the team, and company, move forward and continue to operate in a unified manner whilst supporting the venues on a day to day basis. Working in a new industry has also given Joe the chance to enhance his knowledge.
Praesepe always strives to give team members the chance to develop and enhance their skills and after just a few months Joe was given the chance to spend a week with Merkur Cashino area managers in Serbia to learn more about international business models. Joe is also taking part in another development experience in September, where all Merkur Cashino area managers will be visiting Germany to learn about the heart of Praesepe, and parent company Gauselmann Group.
For Joe, every day is a learning curve, and each project he is involved in within the company helps him develop and learn about Praesepe and the gaming industry on a whole.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with his four children, and visiting the gym as often as he can.
